Phlebotomy
Phlebotomy involves procedures related to blood collection in a hospital or medical clinic.
A combination of lecture, lab and hands-on practical experience, this 10-week course develops the skills needed to work as an entry-level phlebotomist. Coursework includes selecting and preparing the skin puncture site, collecting specimens, adhering to proper health and safety guidelines, patient/technician relationship, and clerical duties associated with proper recordkeeping of laboratory tests.
Prospective students must participate in a screening process, including a mandatory program orientation, application and interview.
The mandatory information session includes a detailed presentation about the phlebotomy profession, program expectations and a question-answer period.
For immediate assistance or to be placed on the interest list, call Anne Mayer at (509) 279-6251.
